Here's your weekly TMI posting:
I've been reading a book called Trying Again.
I love it.
The first time Jay & I got pregnant, it only took two months.
So blessed.
This time has proven to be a bit trickier.
So, I started reading the book.
While I was reading yesterday, I came upon a paragraph that said, "just before the woman ovulates, she is most fertile."
Okay, duh - we already know that.
But THEN I read the next sentence - "once she ovulates, the possibility of getting pregnant slams shut."
SLAMS SHUT people.
Now, I was paraphrasing the book - but it DID use the term "slams shut."
Ouch.
Doesn't sound too hopeful right!?!
So this month, after chatting with a girlfriend (thank you Corrin!), I started using an ovulation kit (which test for your LH surge - which your body produces right before you ovulate).
Just to see what's going on with my body.
I think of it as getting to know myself.
A research project if you will.
Let me tell you something.
The book was right!
Check out these tests from day 19 - 21 of my cycle (ya, apparently I'm a late ovulator) ...
You see that?
You see that slam shut?
Day #19 ... no LH surge yet.
Day #20 ... today is the day
Day #21 ... SLAM SHUT!
Crazy stuff I tell ya.
Crazy stuff.

I was going to make some kind of vulgar comment about opening your legs or talk about spreadin them, but I thought through it and thought it might be a bad idea... you know, being a pastor's wife and all. I'll just stick with... good luck with your tracking! That's what we did with both boys. :)
WOW...that's crazy and very interesting...really, thanks for sharing! BTW **whispering** I'm praying the goalie was WIDE OPEN on the 20th! Maybe even a goal! ;) {{HUGS}}
You should try this site for ovulation strips. It's a company out of Bellingham that ships from Bellevue so you get your stuff the next day (if you live in this area). I found it while tracking my ovulation before kids and loved the prices. You get about a million ovulation strips and a few pregnancy tests for nothing compared to the cost of one or two of the drugstore ovulation kits.

It's kind of addictive once have so many strips for so little money.
I think I told you about this book awhile ago, but I really loved Taking Charge of YOur Fertility. It was fascinating to read and I learned so much. We had been trying for months before I realized I was not on a 28-day cycle, I was actually on a 31-day cycle, so we were missing our opportunity each month. Check it out if you haven't already. XOXO
Found your blog thru a friend of a friend of a friend. I second Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Lots of good information.
Would it be possible to email you? I would like to share a website with you but don't want to post it on here. But it might provide some comfort and hope during this journey. You can email me at Nicho2005@hotmail.com and I can send you the info if that works.
